A TurboMax Engine with Impressive Torque

While Chevrolet’s Colorado cousin offers three different engine options, the pickup GMC Canyon is the most powerful in the range. It’s equipped with the high-performance version of the TurboMax engine, a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. It boasts 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque!

Torque is not only impressive, it’s also among the highest in its class. Regardless of the version you choose, the Canyon offers solid towing and off-road performance.

The GMC Canyon towing capacity reaches up to 7,700 lbs. Payload peaks at 1,590 lbs with the GMC Canyon Elevation.

Furthermore, the engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission ensuring smooth gearshifts. The Canyon not only boasts impressive power but also provides an enhanced driving experience compared to its predecessor. As Antoine Joubert points out in Le Guide de l’auto 2024 :

“The improved level of comfort and soundproofing also make it a much more pleasant vehicle for everyday use, without giving the impression that it’s just a work tool.”

Off-Road Versions: AT4 and AT4X

The specialized off-road versions - GMC Canyon AT4 and AT4X - are back for 2024 with their unique features, including :

  • Advanced descent control
  • 4-wheel drive system with automatic locking rear differential
  • Driving mode selector
  • All-terrain tires
  • Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers (AT4X)

In addition, the AT4X’s exclusive Baja mode has been upgraded with a hot-start function. Those who wish to venture off the beaten track without sacrificing comfort will be able to turn to these versions, but also to a new edition for 2024: the GMC Canyon AT4X AEV.

It takes the AT4X features and raises them a notch for drivers with more demanding requirements. It is the mid-size truck with the highest ground clearance, at 12.2 inches. It also comes with:

  • 35-inch Wrangler Territory MT tires
  • 17-inch AEV wheels with bead locks
  • Stronger bumpers
  • AEV fender flares
  • Five steel skid plates under the truck

Unique emblems also add to the design. Whatever level of off-road performance you’re looking for, the AT4, the AT4X or the all-new AT4X AEV are models that will meet your expectations on dirt, sand, gravel or mud.

Robust and Functional Design

The new-generation GMC Canyon has a more robust, modernized design overall. Not only aesthetically pleasing, the redesigns have strengthened off-road performance and functionality, notably with higher ground clearance.

The pickup truck is offered in a crew cab configuration with a 5-foot bed. Whether you use it for work or for exploring and adventure, it makes loading easy thanks to a well-designed bed. Standard features include 8 tie-down hooks, a step that facilitates access without slipping, and several optional additions.

You could, for example, add a 120 V outlet, a spray-on liner or even an integrated storage system with the Multistow tailgate! The GMC Canyon Denali is a versatile model that can be customized to suit your lifestyle.

High-End Finishes

As soon as you open the doors, the pickup truck doesn’t disappoint. Various version levels are available, including leather-trimmed seat options. The GMC Canyon Denali stands out with its trim and woodwork, just like the AT4X with its Obsidian Rush interior.

Technology also has been put forth, with an 11.3" central touchscreen and 11" digital instrumentation. In addition to connectivity features, enthusiasts will be able to track their performance with the available off-road performance display mode.
